For example: Temporary Working Holiday Visas allow nationals to temporarily enter Australia for up to 12 months. Temporary Resident Visa subclass 489 permits the holder to be in Australia indefinitely. Temporary Resident Visa: subclass 489The subclass Visa is an Australian permanent visa. The holder of a subclass 489 visa may be in Australia indefinitely. The holder may, however, stay in Australia for up to 12 months at a time on the condition that they leave after if they have already spent more than 12 months continuously staying in Australia. Wow Right!
Every country has it’s on rules of engagement to obtain residency whether it be temporary or permanent. Due diligence is of the utmost importance when researching your options to live abroad.
Wherever you are make an appointment at the consulate and start the process there in the US. As a RULE you must start in the US and complete your residency in Merida (in this case).
What to do If you do not follow this process: You will have to return to the US for an appointment with the Consulate. You can get Legal assistance with making the appointment, however, it may not be in the state in which you reside, so be open to going where you need to go to make it happen captain.
Finishing in Merida, once you complete the US side of the residency process, you complete it here in Merida. This is where having legal representation is of a GREAT help! Law firms like Valeria’s, will schedule appointments at immigration and even have a representative stand in line for you.

Visa Program: 2020, 2021 & extended now into 2022! What does that look like; If you have traveled to Merida twice within this timeframe you qualify for this program. I do not now, I will in 2023 if they extend the program which it looks like they will however there is no guarantee.

Tourist Visa Extension is NOT recommended! It’s the same process as getting temporary residency, yes, they ask for all the paperwork! There was an office in Campestre offering these services, but it has since been closed.
If you need to travel while you go through the process it is advised, the closest place to take a quick vacation other than the states is Belize and as a plus it’ll renew your tourist visa.
